2016. Jun.13-Jun.19 Rainy season

● Jun.13(Mon.) June is the most dismal month of the year. It feel terrible as the weather gets very humid, but if it doesn't rain during this period, we are sure to experience a shortage of water during the summer. Food spoils quickly during this season. It is almost the end of the rainy season, and summer is just around the corner. My home town, Hokkaido doesn't have rainy season.

●Jun. 14(Tue.) I have syodo(calligraphy) lessons on Tuesdays.

●Jun. 15(Wed.)This is a fish specialty shop, Nezu Matsumoto.

The fish is quite expensive but really fresh and delicious, for example one piece of salmon is ¥1200. The vegetables in an oribako(wood box)costs ¥1800.

And today I saw a kinki (a rare type of fish)selling for ¥10,000. It can be grilled, and it's really  juicy and tender. This shop has many regular customers.

●Jun. 16(Thu.) 30th June was my elder grandchild's birthday - two of my grandchildren have birthdays in July. So I sent birthday cards and Japanese chocolate, etc. Of course they can buy them at Japanese store in American,  but they will be delighted to get presents from Japan. This was my daughter-in-law's advice to me.

●Jun. 18(Sat.) Today, my syodo classmate Wakana invited us to an Italian restaurant. This was as acknowledgement for helping out during the shodo event last week.

The person next to me is our shodo teacher who is an eager, intelligent and a honorable person.

This is fresh fish carpaccio.

The food here is delicious.  ↓ We also had truffles and something steamed, I think.

This is a dessert.

●Jun. 19(Son.)The third Sunday of June is Father's Day.

My father passed away 6 years ago.

See you next week.
